Lift out the top box (containing the
Handlebar/Control Shaft Assembly,
Riders' Guide, Reference Manual, Safety
Video, Keys, Wrench Set, Control Shaft
Clamp Bolt and Power Cord).
Place the box on its side,
remove the insert, and roll out
the base of your Segway HT.
Keep all packaging
materials for future use.
unpack your Segway HT
Reach into the Control Shaft and pull down the tag to
access the Control Shaft Cords. Connect black to black,
and yellow to yellow. Make sure prongs are properly
aligned and snapped into place. The connection of the
black Control Shaft Cords produces a tone.
Loosen the Height Adjustment Collar and extend the
Handlebar/Control Shaft Assembly approximately 6 inches
(15 cm). Then, tighten the Height Adjustment Collar.
Insert the bottom of the Handlebar/Control Shaft Assembly
into the opening in the Control Shaft Base. Push the
Handlebar/Control Shaft Assembly all the way in so that the
rubber O-ring near the bottom contacts the Control Shaft
Base. Be careful not to pinch the cords.
Install and securely tighten the Control Shaft Clamp Bolt using the 5 mm Hex Wrench from the Wrench Set.
Lay the Segway HT down forward onto the Handlebar to
properly align the Handlebar parallel with the front of the base.

Insert the Power Cord into the Charge Port and into a grounded
AC outlet (100 to 240 V; 50 to 60 Hz).
Check for the green light in the Charge Port Indicator.
Charge for at least 12 hours before your first use. Follow
instructions in the Reference Manual for future charging.
The Reference Manual contains important instructions regarding
battery charging. Follow those instructions to maximize battery life.

Before installing the Golf Bag Carrier, we recommend
that you learn to ride as described in Riders' Guide and
Safety Video. The Golf Bag Carrier kit for the Segway Golf
Transporter (GT) ships in a separate box, with additional
instructions and warnings for proper installation and use.
To reduce risk of injury, be sure to follow those separate
instructions when installing and riding with the Golf Bag
Carrier.
